Ben Ledi sits 879m high and provides an iconic backdrop to Callander.
The 9km race starts with a gentle incline on forest tracks and then turns onto the main footpath over Ben Ledi which becomes less and less gentle in it’s nature.
The path soon joins the shoulder of the mountain which is known for it’s frustrating false summits and the summit itself is marked with a trig point. The descent advances along the rounded ridge down towards the beallach where runners turn east down Stank Glen to join the forest track back to the finish line.
The sun shone brightly on the morning of the race but as the day progressed the cloud came down limiting visibility towards the end of the race.
We were also joined by our deer friends the midgies though an intermittent breeze did it’s best to rid us of these pests.
The race was won by Jacob Adkin from Peebles in a remarkable time of 50.05mins
Huge congratulations to all who took part and many thanks to the totally brilliant team of marshals who supported this event.

Many thanks to our wonderful team of volunteers.
Running events takes a huge amount of organisation and is reliant on volunteers to help support the event and marshal the route. I’m rubbish at maths but it’s a pretty simple equation – No volunteers = no events.
With a growing demand for our events we are always looking for new volunteers to come and join the team.
So…If you or anybody you know would be able to join the team – even for one event per year – we would be keen to hear from you. CLICK HERE TO EMAIL US >>>firstname.lastname@example.org.
News Computer VirusThis time last year – on the day before the Ben Ledi Ascent, the Skidaddle computers were hit by a ransomware virus and the entire contents were encrypted.
It has been a very difficult year but we are enormously proud that we have been able to keep things running and rebuild our systems. This would not have been possible if it had not been for the support from volunteers and in particular the Skidaddle Core Team who have been wonderful.
We have also received fantastic support from you, Skidaddle participants. Many thanks for all the cards, emails of support, flowers and chocolates your messages and gestures have kept us going – Thank you.
This month Skidaddle will be moving to our new offices in Ancaster Business Park on Cross St. Just off Callander’s Main St.
If you are in area why not give us a buzz and come and say hello. Our phone number should not change.
In order to allow for this move and for strategic development Skidaddle will be taking a short break from events, with the next event being the Breathing Space Callander 10k in October. We look forward to seeing you there.
